Application of water-based ink in carton printing

In the call for environmental protection, energy conservation, pollution reduction, recycling and safe production, our country’s packaging and printing water-based inks have ranked first among other packaging printing inks with its 35% usage in just a few years.

Looking at packaging printing inks, the more high-end, especially water-based printing inks, the stronger the printing characteristics and the narrower the application range. From ordinary batter starch, dextrin to shellac, casein, sodium lignin; from rosin-modified maleic acid resin to styrene-acrylic acid copolymer resin, and even the current polymer with core-shell structure and network structure Emulsion resins are all called water-based inks without exception.

For more than ten years, water-based ink has combined the characteristics of various packaging and printing materials in manufacturing experiment trial printing, production and application, and firmly grasped:

①The film-forming substance in the ink adheres the pigments and fillers to the substrate. And give the ink a stand-alone body without sticking;

②It can make the ink have sufficient leveling, spreading and gloss on the printing material;

③It has high efficiency wetting agent and abrasion resistance;

④Maintain and improve pigment dispersion and printability;

⑤It can have sufficient printing resolubility, but it must have a certain degree of water resistance after drying.

Changed the traditional ink and wash using pure water-soluble polymer compounds (such as casein, shellac, polyvinyl alcohol resin, etc.) as the ink binder, because it only relies on water to adhere and is not resistant to friction and water. The printing and gravure ink system uses acrylic, polyurethane and other water-based ink binders, which have changed from the past glycol ethers (which can metabolize harmful substances such as alkoxy acetic acid) to propylene glycol ether series (metabolism produces almost no The toxic 1,2-propylene glycol is finally decomposed into carbon dioxide and water, which has very low toxicity. There is also a non-toxic water-based ink that will be introduced into the market without an initiator water-based UV ink.
